SEASONAL SIMPLICITY CHRISTMAS SERIES
I can’t wait to kick off my inaugural Christmas post of the year! Today, I’m teaming up with Krista from The Happy Housie and other fantastic blogging buddies for the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series. Each week, we’ll showcase our top Christmas ideas, spanning from home decor and homemade ornaments to unique gift suggestions. This week is dedicated to Christmas crafts and DIY projects, featuring an array of adorable designs. Don’t forget to explore them all at the end of the post – they’re sure to ignite your Christmas inspiration!
DIY FRESH CHRISTMAS WREATH
I adore having fresh greenery during the Christmas season, especially since we’ve opted for an artificial tree. Crafting this delightful DIY wreath with real greenery not only emanates a wonderful aroma but also brings a festive charm to your Christmas porch. Plus, it’s versatile enough to be displayed indoors.
To clarify, I haven’t delved too deeply into early Christmas decorating. The wreath showcased here adorned our Christmas porch last year, and I simply hadn’t had the opportunity to share the tutorial with you until now. Remarkably, the wreath endured well, staying in place until the end of February (excluding the Christmas sign, of course)!

FRESH CHRISTMAS WREATH TUTORIAL
Creating a fresh Christmas wreath is likely simpler than you imagine! With basic supplies and a bit of time, you can personalize your wreath to match your unique style and relish the fragrance of freshly cut greenery throughout the entire season.
MATERIALS
Materials needed for your wreath project:
Metal Wreath Form: Available in various sizes at most craft stores; consider the greenery’s additional size when choosing. Typically, 12-18 inches is suitable for most wreaths.
Green Floral Wire and Wire Cutters: Essential for securing elements in place.
Moss: Adds a natural touch and enhances the wreath’s appearance.
Fresh Greenery (6-12 inch sections): Opt for a mix of pine, cedar, boxwood, spruce, juniper, and fir to introduce texture and depth. Harvest from your trees if available, or find them at local garden centers, supermarkets, or Christmas tree farms.
Add-ons: The enjoyable part involves decorating your wreath! Consider incorporating ribbon, pine cones, twinkle lights, twigs, berries, flocking, or any other desired decorations.
TO DO
- Fill the wreath form with moss and secure it with floral wire every few inches. Aim for a reasonably compact moss layer. {Note: While an alternative method involves attaching branches directly to the wreath form using wire without moss, using moss makes it easier to later adjust the branches for your preferred look. Additionally, it provides a neater finish.}

- Proceed around the wreath, ensuring to fill it entirely with moss.
Commencing from the wreath’s central top, insert your greenery by sliding branches beneath the floral wire. Ensure to incorporate greenery both from the front and sides to fill gaps thoroughly. Begin with larger branches and then fill any remaining spaces with smaller ones. Alternate the greenery as you progress to achieve a well-balanced mix of different textures.

- After finishing one half of the wreath, begin again at the top to complete the other half.

- Include any decorations you fancy. I adorned mine with sizable pinecones, twigs, and artificial branches featuring miniature snow-covered pinecones. Let your creativity shine and enjoy the process!

- When embellishing our Christmas porch, I opted for a winter wonderland snowy appearance for my wreath by adding some flocking. It only requires a few extra minutes but completely transforms the wreath’s appearance.

- Finally, I incorporated twinkling lights for that enchanting glow! I opted for battery-operated lights with a timer, ensuring they illuminate {and turn off!} automatically each night, eliminating any concerns. If placing the wreath in a potentially damp environment, remember to use outdoor lights.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT NIGHT
